Faxing Over IP: New Developments
Provider of fax and document server automation systems FaxCore Corp. announced today that it introduced an upgrade to its FaxCore 4371 product. The company explained that the new version of FaxCore includes support for fax over IP (FoIP), least cost routing to increase IT efficiency and reduce costs, and new reporting capabilities.
This system looks like a good fit for those companies that have already implemented VoIP-based telecommunication systems in the enterprise, but still depend on a legacy phone line to send and receive faxes. The new FaxCore 4371 fully supports FoIP, providing the capability to deploy a converged network that includes voice and data over the Internet.
"This new version of FaxCore allows organizations to conveniently harness the power of their VoIP networks to send faxes and take advantage of least cost routing to save money, and enables users to reduce paper costs by sending and receiving faxes digitally," said Tom Linhard, director of channel sales for FaxCore, Inc. "FaxCore helps organizations centralize, control and manage all types of fax communications and streamline business processes."
The fax system is built on Microsoft's .NET platform. As a strategic partner of Brooktrout Technology, FaxCore delivers a standards-based fax communications system that could integrate and support a range of third-party applications, including CRM, ERP, financial, and standard Microsoft Office productivity software with as few as 10 lines of code.
FaxCore now supports Fax over IP (FoIP) with either the Brooktrout TR1034 digital fax boards or the new Brooktrout SR140 Host Media Processing drivers. The Brooktrout SR140 is a real-time Fax over IP platform that provides application developers a software alternative to Brooktrout's hardware-based intelligent fax boards, while providing the same APIs as Brooktrout's hardware based products. Thanks to the upgrade, now businesses will be able to use FaxCore and Brooktrout's SR140 intelligent fax platform to add IP fax functionality to their VoIP networks.
The upgrade will enable companies to install a Brooktrout fax board and the Faxcore FaxAgent service in PCs anywhere and the remote fax boards will send faxes from the central FaxCore server. In addition, faxes can be received by the remote fax board and write the faxes to the main FaxCore Server utilizing IP.
New reporting functionality was also introduced today in this new version of FaxCore in conjunction with Microsoft's SQL Reporting and Business Intelligence (BI) Tools.
FaxCore 4371 will be available in 3Q 2005 through authorized FaxCore resellers with pricing starting at $1,995.
